About the role

The Purchase Specialist supports efficient, transparent, and compliant procurement of goods and services for Lahore University of Management Sciences. The role manages the end‑to‑end purchasing cycle, from requisition receipt to vendor coordination, while ensuring adherence to university policies and internal controls.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage procurement activities from requisition receipt to purchase order issuance and vendor coordination.
  • Ensure all procurement processes comply with institutional policies, delegated authorities, and internal controls.
  • Source, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, reliability, service standards, and delivery timelines.
  • Obtain quotations, conduct comparative evaluations, and support vendor selection.
  • Coordinate with user departments to understand requirements and ensure timely fulfilment.
  • Maintain effective relationships with vendors and service providers.
  • Support contract administration and maintain accurate procurement records.
  • Coordinate invoice processing and payment follow‑up with Finance and vendors.
  • Monitor supplier performance and drive improvement initiatives.
  • Identify cost‑optimisation opportunities while maintaining quality and service standards.
  • Maintain procurement reports, records, and trackers for audit and compliance.
  • Assist inventory and operational teams to ensure continuity of supplies.
  • Update SOPs, templates, and process documentation.
  • Support internal and external audit activities related to procurement.

Required profile

  • Bachelor’s (Hons) degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline from a HEC‑recognised institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain operations.
  • Experience working with ERP/procurement systems and within a university environment.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organisational, time‑management, and attention‑to‑detail abilities.
