Assistant IT Officer

About the role

MEP Solutions Pvt. Ltd., a contracting firm in the Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing sector, is looking for an on‑site Assistant IT Officer to support its Karachi Port Qasim operations. This entry‑level position offers the chance to work across a range of IT functions in a dynamic construction environment.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure and maintain computer hardware, software and network components.
• Troubleshoot issues on desktops, laptops, printers and servers.
• Provide first‑line technical support to end‑users and resolve IT‑related problems.
• Ensure system security through data backup, antivirus protection and access controls.
• Manage and monitor network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls and VPNs.
• Implement and enforce IT policies, procedures and standards.
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies to improve efficiency.
• Collaborate with other departments to understand and meet their IT needs.
• Plan and execute IT projects such as upgrades, migrations and installations.
• Document system configurations, procedures and knowledge‑base articles.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field.
• Strong technical knowledge of hardware, software and networking.
• Excellent problem‑solving and troubleshooting abilities.
• Familiarity with Windows, Linux and macOS operating systems.
• Understanding of network protocols and security best practices.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+ or MCITP are a plus.
• Experience: fresh graduate to 1 year.
