Cloud Engineer I

About the role

The Cloud Engineer I will join Zones' Enterprise Compute & Storage Services team to enhance the reliability, security, and operational maturity of the company’s Azure and hybrid cloud platforms. This mid‑level role focuses on building automation, improving observability, and strengthening recovery processes in production environments.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and support Azure and hybrid infrastructure services, including compute, storage, networking, and foundational platform components.
• Execute production changes with rigorous change‑control procedures, documentation, and rollback planning.
• Troubleshoot availability, performance, capacity, and configuration issues across cloud and virtualization layers, driving root‑cause resolution.
• Participate in an on‑call rotation to provide 24/7 support for critical platforms.
• Design, develop, and refine automation scripts and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions to reduce manual operational work.
• Improve monitoring, alerting, and backup processes to enhance system observability and recovery readiness.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience with Microsoft Azure in production environments.
• Proven ability to automate operational tasks and implement IaC practices.
• Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting complex cloud infrastructure issues.
• Experience working in on‑call rotations and adhering to change‑control standards.
