Energy Regulatory Attorney (Remote)

About the role

We are seeking an Energy Regulatory Attorney to provide expert legal counsel on federal and state energy regulations for a leading global energy organization. This remote contract role involves guiding compliance, drafting regulatory filings, and shaping policy in a fast‑moving sector.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on compliance with FERC, state public utility commissions, and environmental standards.
• Draft and file petitions, motions, and other regulatory documents.
• Analyze proposed tariffs, rates, and regulations to identify legal risks and craft strategic responses.
• Represent the client in meetings with regulators, industry groups, and stakeholders.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and brief senior leadership.

Required profile

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Active membership in the bar of any U.S. jurisdiction.
• Demonstrated experience in energy law, particularly with FERC and state utility regulations.
• Proven track record handling regulatory filings and policy advocacy.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of FERC regulations.
• Understanding of state public utility commission rules.
• Expertise in drafting and filing regulatory documents.
• Regulatory analysis and risk assessment.
