Energy Regulatory Attorney (Remote)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Energy Regulatory Attorney to join a leading global energy company on a contract basis. Working remotely, you will provide expert legal counsel on federal and state energy regulations, guide regulatory filings, and support policy development.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on compliance with federal and state energy laws, including FERC and state public utility commission regulations.
• Draft, review, and file petitions, motions, and other regulatory documents in energy‑related proceedings.
• Analyze proposed tariffs, rate cases, and regulatory proposals to identify legal risks and recommend strategic responses.
• Represent the client in meetings with regulators, industry groups, and stakeholders to influence favorable outcomes.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments affecting the energy sector and provide timely updates to senior leadership.

Required profile

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Active bar membership in any U.S. jurisdiction, with a focus on energy regulatory practice.
• Proven experience handling energy law matters, including familiarity with FERC regulations and state utility law.
• Strong analytical and written communication abilities to interpret complex regulatory frameworks.
