Energy Regulatory Attorney (Remote)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Energy Regulatory Attorney to provide expert legal counsel on federal and state energy regulations. This remote contract role supports a leading global energy organization in navigating complex compliance and policy matters.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on compliance with FERC, state public utility commissions, and environmental standards.
• Draft, file, and manage regulatory documents, petitions, and motions in energy‑related proceedings.
• Analyze proposed tariffs, rate cases, and regulatory proposals to identify legal risks and craft strategic responses.
• Represent the client in meetings with regulators, industry groups, and stakeholders to influence favorable outcomes.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments affecting the energy sector and brief leadership on emerging issues.

Required profile

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Active bar membership in any U.S. jurisdiction, preferably with energy regulatory experience.
• Proven experience in energy law, including familiarity with FERC regulations and state utility law.
• Strong analytical and writing abilities to interpret complex regulatory frameworks.

Required skills

• Legal research and regulatory drafting.
• Experience handling regulatory filings and proceedings.
