Remote Big Data Engineer – Design Scalable Data Pipelines

About the role

We are seeking a Remote Big Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines that support both real‑time and batch processing. The role is full‑time and will collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and engineering teams to ensure data integrity and accessibility across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and optimise ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest data from diverse sources into data warehouses and data lakes.
• Build and maintain data models that enable analytics and reporting.
• Work closely with data scientists and analysts to guarantee data quality and availability for downstream applications.
• Monitor pipeline performance, troubleshoot failures and ensure system reliability.
• Apply data‑governance, security and compliance standards throughout the data lifecycle.

Required profile

• Full‑time remote position.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams.
• Strong focus on data quality, scalability and operational excellence.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow.
• Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP or Azure) and services like S3, Redshift, BigQuery.
• Knowledge of data‑warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling and ETL design.
• Familiarity with big‑data technologies (Spark, Hadoop) and streaming platforms (Kafka).
• Understanding of data‑governance, metadata management and data‑quality frameworks.
