Roller Grinding Operator

About the role

The Roller Grinding Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining grinding equipment to produce rubber‑covered rollers that meet strict dimensional and surface‑finish specifications. Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the role ensures timely completion of grinding jobs while maintaining high quality and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate cylindrical grinding machines and rubber roller grinders, setting up rollers, shafts, and supporting arrangements correctly.
• Grind rollers to required outside diameter, length, profile and surface finish, controlling tolerances, cylindricity and crowning.
• Perform quality inspections using micrometers, Pi tapes, vernier calipers and dial indicators, reporting any deviations.
• Handle heavy rollers safely, ensure proper mounting, alignment and clamping.
• Carry out routine cleaning, lubrication and basic preventive maintenance of machines.
• Document job details, final dimensions and inspection results, coordinating with production, quality and dispatch teams.

Required profile

• Matriculation or technical diploma (preferred) with 2–5 years of experience in cylindrical or rubber roller grinding.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and follow job cards.
• Knowledge of rubber hardness effects on grinding parameters.
