Senior Backend Engineer (Laravel)

About the role

We are a digital healthcare company expanding our clinical and pharmacy platform. As a Senior Backend Engineer you will own the design, development, and long‑term maintenance of Laravel‑based services that power core operations.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable backend services in Laravel, from architecture to production.
• Build and maintain core platform capabilities such as data modelling, REST APIs, background processing, and third‑party integrations.
• Create secure, versioned APIs and event‑driven asynchronous systems using queues and background jobs.
• Optimize database performance, improve application scalability, and write automated tests.
• Participate in architecture discussions, mentor developers, review pull requests, and define engineering standards.
• Integrate AI/LLM services to create intelligent workflows and enhance user experiences.

Required profile

• 7+ years of professional backend development experience, with at least 3 years building production Laravel applications.
• Deep understanding of OOP, SOLID principles, design patterns, and system design.
• Strong data‑modelling instincts and ability to evaluate trade‑offs.
• Experience with regulated domains (healthcare, fintech, etc.) is a plus.
