Senior Full‑Stack JavaScript Engineer (Backend Focus)

About the role

We are hiring a senior full‑stack JavaScript engineer with a strong backend focus to join a fast‑growing early‑stage startup building secure, scalable, compliance‑driven systems. The role is heavily backend‑oriented, but you will also contribute to frontend features when needed.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement stateful workflow and case‑management back‑end services.
• Build scalable API layers and secure credential‑vaulting/configuration systems.
• Integrate third‑party platforms such as payments, voice, and document services, handling retries and idempotency.
• Develop billing, reconciliation, and commission workflows, as well as webhook/event routing and automation.
• Contribute to frontend components using modern full‑stack technologies (React/Next.js) when required.
• Ensure SOC 2‑focused audit logging, compliance, and operational reliability.

Required profile

• Engineer who thinks beyond individual endpoints and embraces systems design.
• Strong ownership mindset with production engineering experience.
• Ability to balance speed, reliability, security, and scalability in a high‑impact startup environment.

Required skills

• TypeScript and Node.js in production.
• Design of scalable backend architectures and REST APIs.
• Domain‑driven design patterns (controllers, services, repositories).
• Deep PostgreSQL expertise: schema design, migrations, query optimisation, raw SQL.
• Authentication, RBAC, JWT, rate limiting, validation, and audit logging.
• Third‑party API integration with retries, idempotency, and failure handling.
• Debugging, observability, and production troubleshooting.
