Senior Shopify Developer (Apps + Themes + AI Workflow)

About the role

We are a German company managing multiple Shopify projects, including apps, themes, and store setups. We seek a Senior Shopify Developer who can own end‑to‑end delivery, especially in app development, while also contributing to theme work and leveraging AI tools in the daily workflow.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain embedded Shopify apps and backend services using Node.js, Shopify CLI, Admin GraphQL, webhooks, and app proxies.
• Implement authentication, data synchronization, background jobs, and third‑party integrations (APIs, SFTP, PDFs).
• Debug production issues, ship fixes with clean pull requests, and ensure high code quality.
• Develop and extend Shopify themes using Liquid, sections/blocks, JSON templates, and JavaScript for storefront features.
• Integrate app outputs into storefronts via theme app extensions, scripts, and blocks.
• Set up basic Shopify stores (products, collections, markets, shipping, taxes, payments, emails) and document repeatable processes.
• Use AI tools such as Cursor to accelerate development, generate code snippets, and assist with debugging while maintaining quality standards.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience delivering real Shopify apps (not just installed apps).
• Self‑managed, disciplined, and able to communicate daily and unblock yourself.
• Comfortable with Git/PR workflows and clean handovers.
• Willingness to use AI‑first development practices responsibly.
