Teradata Administrator (4-7 years experience)

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Teradata Administrator to manage and support our Teradata environments across development, testing, and production. The role involves workload and security management, performance monitoring, and close collaboration with data engineering and infrastructure teams.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and support Teradata databases in development, testing, and production.
• Perform workload management using Teradata Workload Management (TASM) – classification, prioritization, throttling, and resource allocation.
• Monitor and optimise workload performance, troubleshoot bottlenecks, and resolve resource‑intensive queries.
• Manage Teradata security – roles, profiles, privileges, access controls, and security policies.
• Handle user lifecycle – creation, modification, deactivation, password/profile management, and access provisioning.
• Implement role‑based access control (RBAC) and least‑privilege principles.
• Monitor database health, capacity, space utilisation, sessions, locks, and overall system performance.
• Support backup, restore, recovery, and disaster‑recovery activities.
• Plan capacity and identify infrastructure and storage requirements.
• Manage system resources – CPU, memory, AMP utilisation, spool, and disk space.
• Assist with database upgrades, patches, migrations, and environment changes.
• Develop and maintain operational procedures, documentation, and runbooks.
• Collaborate with Data Engineers, Developers, Security, Infrastructure, and Application teams to resolve production issues.
• Participate in incident, problem, and change management processes.

Required profile

• 4–7 years of hands‑on Teradata administration experience.
• Strong practical experience with Teradata Workload Management (TASM).
• Hands‑on experience in Teradata security and user/role management.
• Good understanding of Teradata architecture (AMPs, BYNET, PE, etc.).
• Experience working in large‑scale enterprise Teradata environments.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
• Effective communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
