IT Support Engineer – Technical Support Specialist

About the role

The university seeks an IT Support Engineer to deliver first- and second-level technical assistance to staff and students. The role ensures smooth operation of hardware, software and network environments across campus.

Key responsibilities

• Provide timely first- and second-level support for hardware, software and network issues.
• Install, configure and maintain workstations, printers, network devices and essential applications.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware failures, OS errors and peripheral malfunctions.
• Manage user accounts in Active Directory, including creation, modification and deactivation.
• Handle support tickets, document issues and track resolutions.
• Maintain detailed IT documentation such as support logs and system configurations.
• Implement security measures and data-protection strategies in line with university policies.
• Assist with onboarding by setting up new workstations and installing required software.
• Liaise with external vendors for procurement, maintenance and warranty support.
• Monitor LAN/WAN connections and troubleshoot network problems using diagnostic tools and Cisco IOS.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
• Minimum three years of experience in technical troubleshooting, network configuration and hardware diagnostics.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and clear communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and handle multiple support tasks efficiently.
