CAD Technician – Steel Fabrication Detailing (AutoCAD & SolidWorks)

About the role

SoftBuilds is seeking an experienced CAD Technician to create detailed shop drawings for a European heavy‑fabrication client. You will translate design concepts into 2D and 3D drawings that feed directly into laser‑cutting, forming and welding operations for industrial air ducts, pipelines, steel structures, pressure vessels, silos and tanks.

Key responsibilities

• Produce accurate 2D shop drawings and 3D models for steel plate parts (≥6 mm thickness).
• Apply sheet‑metal and weldment features in SolidWorks and generate fabrication‑ready AutoCAD drawings.
• Read and interpret weld symbols (e.g., a5, z8) and ensure correct annotation on all drawings.
• Collaborate with European engineers via live English calls, adhering to European business hours.
• Prepare drawings for nesting/cutting software and support laser‑cutting, forming and welding processes.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of daily SolidWorks use, including Part, Assembly, Drawing, Sheet Metal and Weldments.
• At least 3 years of experience creating 2D shop drawings in AutoCAD for steel fabrication.
• Proven ability to work with sheet‑metal, weldments and thick steel plates.
• Fluent English for real‑time communication with overseas teams.
• Based in Islamabad and able to work hybrid on European business hours.
