Healthcare Virtual Assistant (US Remote)

About the role

EDGE is seeking a detail‑oriented Healthcare Virtual Assistant to support US‑based clinics and insurance providers. The role is fully remote and involves acting as a liaison between patients, providers, and insurers to ensure smooth appointment scheduling and timely claim processing.

Key responsibilities

• Verify patient eligibility and benefits across PPO, HMO, Medicare and Medicaid plans.
• Determine and document patient financial responsibilities such as deductibles, copays and coinsurance.
• Prepare, submit and track prior authorization requests via insurance portals, fax or phone, and manage appeals for denied claims.
• Handle inbound and outbound calls to schedule, reschedule and remind patients of appointments.
• Maintain doctors’ calendars to optimize clinic workflow and minimize gaps in care.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year of direct experience in US healthcare operations (scheduling, eligibility, prior authorizations, insurance verification).
• Strong understanding of US insurance concepts including PPO, HMO, EOBs, copays and patient benefits.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication and ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with insurance portals such as Availity, Optum and CoverMyMeds.
• Experience using electronic health record or practice management systems like ECW, Tebra and Dentrix.
