Remote Mechanical Engineer – System Architecture & Distributed Systems

About the role

This remote position seeks a Mechanical Engineer with strong software‑engineering expertise to guide system architecture, troubleshoot complex production issues, and improve performance of large‑scale distributed platforms. You will work with a global technology leader, shaping critical infrastructure that powers high‑impact products.

Key responsibilities

• Design and evaluate scalable system architectures that meet evolving business and technical requirements.
• Diagnose and resolve high‑priority technical incidents in production environments with minimal downtime.
• Develop and document engineering best practices, standards, and guidelines for cross‑team adoption.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and operations teams to align technical solutions with business objectives.
• Mentor junior engineers and conduct code reviews to ensure quality and security standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience with distributed systems, microservices, or large‑scale backend infrastructure.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and a track record of resolving complex technical challenges.
• Effective communication skills for documenting and presenting architectural decisions.

Required skills

• Python, Java, Go, or Rust programming languages.
• Cloud platforms: AWS, GCP, Azure.
• Containerization and orchestration tools: Docker, Kubernetes.
• Understanding of system architecture, scalability, and performance optimization.
