Software Engineer – Human Data Platforms (Remote)

About the role

We are seeking a Software Engineer to design, build and maintain scalable human‑data platforms. The position is fully remote and focuses on creating robust data pipelines and backend services that enable real‑time and batch processing of large, human‑generated datasets.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and optimise data pipelines for high‑volume human‑generated data.
• Build and maintain backend services supporting both real‑time streaming and batch processing workloads.
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts and product teams to ensure data quality, accessibility and security.
• Implement monitoring, logging and alerting mechanisms to guarantee platform reliability.
• Participate in architectural decisions that improve scalability, performance and cost‑efficiency.

Required profile

• Strong problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail when debugging complex distributed systems.
• Experience working in cloud environments and with containerised applications.
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively within a distributed team.

Required skills

• Python, Java or Go for backend development.
• Distributed streaming and processing frameworks such as Kafka and Spark.
• Cloud platforms: AWS, GCP or Azure.
• SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Docker and Kubernetes for containerisation and orchestration.
