Audit Director – Payments and Core Banking Technology

About the role

The Payments and Core Banking Technology Audit Director provides independent, forward‑looking assurance over the bank’s critical technology services. Reporting to senior management and the Board Audit Committee, the role shapes the assurance strategy for payments architecture, real‑time payment systems, financial messaging and core banking platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Define, implement and execute the assurance strategy for payments and core‑banking technology.
• Lead risk assessments and develop a forward‑looking, risk‑based audit plan aligned to the evolving technology risk profile.
• Identify emerging technology risks linked to payments modernisation, instant payments, open banking and digital workflow systems.
• Manage a team of technology audit professionals and oversee audit execution.
• Maintain senior stakeholder relationships across Technology, Operations, Payments, Core Banking, Business and Risk functions.
• Prepare and present audit findings to the Board Audit Committee and senior management.
• Act as a trusted advisor to the CIO, CTO and payments/core‑banking leaders.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in technology audit, preferably within banking or financial services.
• Proven senior leadership experience, including managing audit teams and influencing senior executives.
• Deep understanding of payments architecture, payment processing, real‑time payment systems and core‑banking platforms.
• Familiarity with internal audit standards (IIA Definition, Core Principles, Code of Ethics, Standards).
• Strong ability to communicate complex technical risks to board‑level audiences.
