Energy Regulatory Attorney (Remote)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Energy Regulatory Attorney to join a leading global energy company on a remote, contract basis. The attorney will provide specialized legal counsel on federal and state energy regulations, support high‑stakes regulatory proceedings, and help shape policy initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on compliance with federal and state energy laws, including FERC and state public utility commission regulations.
• Draft, file, and manage regulatory documents, petitions, and motions in energy‑related proceedings.
• Analyze proposed tariffs, rate cases, and regulatory proposals to assess legal risks and devise strategic responses.
• Represent the client in meetings with regulators, industry stakeholders, and policy groups.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments affecting the energy sector and brief senior leadership.

Required profile

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Active bar membership in any U.S. jurisdiction, with a preference for candidates experienced in energy regulation.
• Proven experience handling energy‑law matters, including familiarity with FERC regulations and state utility law.
• Strong analytical and written communication abilities.

• Expertise in federal and state energy regulatory frameworks.
• Experience preparing and filing regulatory documents and petitions.
• Ability to interpret complex legal and regulatory texts.
