Junior Electrical Engineer

About the role

Bureau Veritas is hiring a Junior Electrical Engineer in Karachi, reporting to the Operations Manager / Team Leader. The role covers electrical design review, site inspections, asset inspections, electrical safety studies and QA/QC supervision of electrical works in residential and commercial buildings.

Key responsibilities

• Review and analyse electrical designs and plans for residential and commercial buildings, and be familiar with local authority requirements such as Civil Defence, LDA and other municipalities.
• Carry out QC visual inspections and supervise the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment.
• Inspect material conformity against approved ITP, method statements, material specifications and submittals.
• Produce weekly and monthly reports on electrical QA/QC inspection status, NCRs and SDRs.
• Carry out third-party inspection for FAT and SAT, witness tests and commissioning of electrical systems, and conduct condition assessments, due diligence and snagging inspections.
• Prepare snagging lists for installed electrical works and follow up closure until specifications and client satisfaction are met.
• Identify non-conformities, propose corrective actions and maintain internal and external communication.

Required profile

• Electrical Engineering degree.
• 0 to 3 years of experience in the construction industry.
• Conversant with international and local codes, and with inspection techniques; able to select the most appropriate technique under the guidance of a Senior Engineer.
• Able to interpret inspection results and appraise inspection procedures under guidance.
• Completion of training such as ISO 9001 internal audit, Quality Management System, NFPA 70, NEC and IEC.

Required skills

• Proficiency in electrical design software and tools.
• Knowledge of international standards such as NFPA, IPC and NEC.
• Ability to complete inspection reports within the allocated timeframe and share knowledge with colleagues.
