Trainee Process Engineer

About the role

The Trainee Process Engineer will support senior engineers in the design and optimisation of chemical processes. This entry‑level position offers hands‑on experience in process calculations, documentation, and plant troubleshooting within a collaborative engineering environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist senior engineers with process design calculations, specifications, and engineering documents.
• Develop basic and detailed engineering deliverables under supervision.
• Review vendor data sheets, technical offers, and equipment specifications.
• Support troubleshooting by collecting data and participating in root‑cause analysis for plant issues.
• Participate in hazard studies and risk assessments, providing process inputs as a learner.
• Help prepare RFQs, review quotations, and perform technical comparisons.
• Coordinate with operations, project teams, consultants, and suppliers to close design‑related actions.
• Learn and support process optimisation, efficiency improvement studies, and debottlenecking activities.

Required profile

• B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from an HEC‑recognised university.
• 0–1 year of relevant experience or academic projects.
• Strong interest in process design, manufacturing operations and plant problem‑solving.
• Good communication, teamwork and analytical mindset.
• Eagerness to learn, adapt and take ownership of assigned tasks.

Required skills

• Fundamentals of process engineering and calculations.
• Mass and energy balance analysis.
• Familiarity with Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
• Basic equipment sizing concepts and plant layout understanding.
• Interest in hazard studies, risk assessments and process optimisation.
