AVP – Technology – UNIX & J2EE Platforms Engineer

About the role

The AVP Technology role focuses on the design, implementation and support of UNIX and J2EE platforms within a large‑scale enterprise environment. The incumbent will ensure operating system stability, security hardening and cloud virtualization management across multiple hardware and software stacks.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 24×7 BAU support for incidents, changes and problem management on UNIX and Linux systems.
• Perform OS installations, upgrades, migrations and patching for Red Hat Enterprise Linux, IBM AIX, HP‑UNIX and Oracle Linux.
• Manage virtualization environments including VMware, Red Hat OpenShift, IBM VIOS and HP VSP.
• Conduct security hardening following CIS baselines and vulnerability management processes.
• Deploy and maintain container platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes, and oversee Azure cloud virtualization.
• Automate routine tasks using shell scripting and support firmware and hardware upgrades on IBM Power, Oracle Exadata, Dell and x86 servers.
• Participate in server builds, cloud portal administration and project‑related activities.

Required profile

• Proven experience supporting UNIX/Linux platforms in a large‑scale environment.
• Hands‑on experience with OS migrations, upgrades and security hardening.
• Ability to work in a 24×7 support model and manage incident, change and problem workflows.
• Familiarity with virtualization, containerisation and cloud management tools.
