IFRS Support - Assistant Manager / Senior Consultant

About the role

EY's Financial Accounting & Advisory Services (FAAS) within Assurance is looking for candidates for an IFRS Support / Technical Accounting role in Karachi. The role supports growing advisory requirements and focuses on new accounting standards implementation, technical accounting advisory, transaction accounting support and IFRS-related training delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Apply IFRS standards in practice, including IFRS 9, 15, 16, 10, 3, 13, 11, 5, IAS 36, 16, 38, 28 and others as applicable
• Prepare IFRS technical accounting memos and position papers, develop and update accounting policies and document them
• Support complex accounting judgments, estimates and interpretations
• Handle business combinations (purchase price allocation, goodwill, NCI), acquisitions, disposals, step acquisitions and group restructurings, and carve-outs and closing balance sheets
• Assess the accounting impact of financing arrangements and capital restructurings
• Develop and deliver IFRS training sessions (internal and client-facing), prepare training materials and case studies, and support engagement teams with IFRS knowledge

Required profile

• CA / ACA / ACCA qualification (mandatory)
• 4-8 years of experience in Big-4 or reputable accounting/advisory firms, or in IFRS-focused roles in large corporates
• Hands-on experience in IFRS advisory, technical accounting or complex accounting engagements
• Preferred: experience across several sectors such as real estate, utilities, financial services and energy, and training facilitation experience

• Strong practical understanding and application of IFRS standards
• Ability to interpret standards and apply them to real-world situations
• Experience preparing technical accounting memos and advisory deliverables
• Strong analytical and communication skills, able to explain accounting conclusions to stakeholders
• Experience working with finance teams, auditors and senior management
