Junior QA Automation Engineer (Cypress, JavaScript & Gherkin)

About the role

A company based in Lahore is looking for a Junior QA Automation Engineer with practical test automation experience and a solid foundation in manual testing. The role focuses on building and improving automated test coverage, with manual testing performed when needed.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, run and maintain end-to-end automated test scripts for web applications using Cypress.
• Write and manage test scenarios using Gherkin and Behavior-Driven Development (BDD).
• Build and optimise automation scripts in JavaScript/TypeScript, implementing Page Object Models, step definitions and reusable functions.
• Manage fixtures, test data, file uploads and data-driven testing workflows.
• Debug automation failures, find root causes and improve test reliability.
• Run manual testing for new features, bug fixes and regression cycles.
• Collaborate with developers and QA team members during sprint planning, daily standups and strategy sessions.
• Use Git to manage branches and version control.

Required profile

• 1-2 years of professional QA/testing experience, including at least 6 months of hands-on test automation in a professional environment; production experience is required, not just course-based exposure.
• Strong understanding of manual testing, test case design, regression testing and bug reporting.
• Proactive problem-solver interested in a long-term career in QA automation, able to work independently and learn from guidance.

Required skills

• JavaScript or TypeScript, with practical experience of reading, writing, debugging and maintaining test scripts.
• Cypress (strongly preferred).
• Gherkin, BDD and Page Object Model (POM) concepts.
• Git and modern version control workflows.
