Mechanical Engineer – MEP QA/QC & Inspection

About the role

Bureau Veritas is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead MEP QA/QC inspections and supervision on projects in Karachi. The role involves ensuring compliance with international codes, local authority requirements, and BV quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct mechanical design reviews, QA/QC inspections, and supervision of MEP installations according to project specifications.
• Perform material conformity inspections, visual QC checks, and verify compliance with approved ITPs and method statements.
• Carry out third‑party Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT) inspections, test witnessing, and commissioning of mechanical equipment.
• Prepare and follow up on snagging lists, NCR/SDR reports, and weekly/monthly QA/QC status reports.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, and local authorities (Civil Defence, LDA) to ensure regulatory compliance and client satisfaction.

Required profile

• Mechanical Engineering degree.
• Minimum 3 years experience in mechanical design, QA/QC engineering, and site supervision.
• Familiarity with international standards (BS, ASME, ASHRAE, IPC, NFPA) and local authority requirements.
• Training in ISO 9001 internal audit and quality management systems.

Required skills

• Proficiency in inspection techniques and selection of appropriate methods.
• Knowledge of international codes: BS, ASME, ASHRAE, IPC, NFPA.
• Material conformity inspection against ITPs and method statements.
• Experience with FAT/SAT testing and commissioning procedures.
• Use of QA/QC reporting tools and preparation of NCR/SDR documentation.
