Property Accountant – Real Estate Finance

About the role

The Property Accountant supports the real‑estate portfolio by maintaining the general ledger and ensuring accurate accounting for rental revenue, operating expenses, capital expenditures, and tenant activity in line with GAAP and company policies.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries, including accruals, amortization, and allocations, and reconcile balance‑sheet accounts and bank statements.
• Record rental income, tenant billings, CAM recoveries, prepaid expenses, security deposits, and escrows; maintain fixed‑asset schedules and depreciation records.
• Monitor rent collections, AR aging, and delinquency reporting; process property‑related invoices.
• Prepare property‑level financial statements, perform budget‑to‑actual variance analysis, and assist with annual budgeting and reforecasting.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 2–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in real estate.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple properties and entities in a high‑volume, deadline‑driven environment.

Required skills

• Yardi Voyager or comparable property accounting software.
• Advanced Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, financial modeling).
• Fixed‑asset accounting and depreciation methodologies.
• Intercompany transaction processing and equity entries.
