Research Engineer - Electrical, Mechanical & Chemical (Remote)

About the role

We are seeking a PhD‑level Research Engineer to develop and optimise advanced electrical, mechanical and chemical systems for high‑impact projects. The position is fully remote, contract‑based, and offers a competitive rate of $80‑$90 per hour.

Key responsibilities

• Design, simulate, and validate electrical, mechanical, or chemical systems according to project requirements.
• Conduct theoretical modelling and experimental validation to ensure performance and reliability.
• Develop and refine algorithms or processes that improve efficiency and scalability of engineering solutions.
• Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations for stakeholders and leadership.
• Provide expert troubleshooting and optimisation recommendations for existing systems.

Required profile

• PhD in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Proven experience in applied research, system design, or process optimisation within the relevant engineering domain.
• Demonstrated ability to translate theoretical concepts into practical, scalable solutions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and stakeholder updates.

Required skills

• Proficiency with simulation tools such as COMSOL, ANSYS, MATLAB, or SPICE.
• Experience in data analysis, statistics, and experimental design methodologies.
• Algorithm development and process optimisation capabilities.
