Senior Accountant

About the role

We are a technology‑driven accountancy firm serving a diverse portfolio of UK‑based clients. As a Senior Accountant you will manage client portfolios, oversee the preparation of accounts and tax returns, and mentor junior staff.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of sole traders, partnerships and limited companies, ensuring timely delivery of bookkeeping, VAT returns and management accounts.
• Prepare and finalise year‑end accounts in accordance with FRS 102/105 and review corporation tax computations and CT600 filings.
• Review self‑assessment tax returns, oversee VAT compliance including Making Tax Digital submissions, and support payroll and pension compliance.
• Liaise with HMRC on client queries, mentor junior accountants and contribute to process improvements.

Required profile

• ACCA qualified or finalist (or equivalent ACA/CIMA) with 2–4 years of experience in an accountancy practice.
• Strong knowledge of UK accounting and tax principles, including year‑end accounts, corporation tax and VAT.
• Proven ability to manage multiple client portfolios and meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency with cloud‑based accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks or Sage.
• Advanced Excel and analytical skills.
• Experience with Making Tax Digital (MTD) processes.
