Senior Tax Compliance & Reporting Specialist

About the role

EY's ACR tax service line, operating as a team of experienced tax professionals, is hiring a senior specialist in Karachi. Working as part of a MENA team, you will lead a team delivering high-quality tax services to clients across a range of industries, covering tax compliance, statutory accounts preparation and tax accounting calculations.

Key responsibilities

• Support client engagements by coordinating with clients and internal team members, managing deadlines and tracking engagement economics.
• Assist clients with financial digital processes (year-end closings, audit assistance, financial statements), tax compliance (corporate tax returns, VAT returns), general accounting, credit control and internal optimization projects.
• Handle management reports, budgeting, analytical bookkeeping, financial health and competitor analysis.
• Monitor progress and deliverables, set up standardized processes, anticipate risks, resolve or escalate issues and drive performance improvements.
• Create, lead and motivate high-performing teams, coach and counsel junior team members, and ensure adherence to Tax Quality guidelines.
• Manage engagement economics and communicate significant issues, fees and estimates-to-complete to partners and clients.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance, taxation or a related field.
• MBA, master's or another advanced degree and/or professional qualification such as CA, CPA, ACCA, CTA or ADIT.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant experience, ideally in a large professional services firm.
• Extensive knowledge of financial reporting standards, tax rules and procedures.
• Practical experience of regulatory topics such as prudential reporting, structural reform, new accounting and compliance innovation, and/or business audit skills.

Required skills

• Ideal candidates have experience with multinational clients and ERP systems such as SAP.
• Knowledge of tax compliance and financial reporting.
• Negotiation skills and ability to work under pressure.
