Workshop Operations Manager – Fleet Maintenance

About the role

The Workshop Operations Manager will lead the workshop that services a commercial vehicle fleet, ensuring preventive, corrective and reactive maintenance is performed safely and efficiently. This position works closely with vendors and internal teams to keep the workshop running at peak performance.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all workshop activities, including preventive, corrective and reactive maintenance of diesel, hybrid and electric buses.
• Manage spare‑parts inventory to minimise downtime and optimise stock levels.
• Monitor and report on KPIs such as vehicle turnaround time, productivity and maintenance quality.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols, technical standards and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate procurement and service procedures with vendors and internal departments.
• Lead retrofitting and technical improvement projects to extend vehicle lifecycle.
• Apply advanced diagnostics and troubleshooting to resolve complex maintenance issues.
• Implement cost‑optimization strategies while maintaining quality and safety.
• Promote a safety‑first culture and continuous‑improvement mindset.
• Prepare detailed operational and technical documentation for management review.
• Travel 20‑30% to other locations to ensure uniform workshop standards.

Required profile

• Strong technical background in automotive repair and fleet maintenance, especially diesel, hybrid and electric buses.
• Demonstrated leadership presence without direct people‑management responsibilities.
• Ability to produce clear technical and operational reports for senior management.
• Willingness to travel regularly between operational sites.
