About the role
The Department Manager will oversee delivery operations at the Metro Distribution Centre, ensuring accurate, timely shipments and high‑quality customer service. The role requires close coordination with operations, store management, buyers, field sales and the delivery team.
Key responsibilities
- Manage and organise deliveries to customers/clients in the correct quantity and according to specifications.
- Count, sort, and weigh incoming goods to verify receipts against delivery notices.
- Monitor orders and stock availability to guarantee hands‑on, efficient deliveries.
- Maintain smooth coordination and relationships with Operations, Store Management, Head Office, Buyers, Field Sales and the Delivery Team.
- Verify daily fuel costs and transactions, ensuring proper documentation.
- Maintain the cash ledger and track inventory through regular physical counts and cross‑checks.
- Gather periodic customer feedback to improve service.
- Coordinate with Head Office on fuel expenses, KPIs, fixed costs and third‑party vehicle expenses.
