Accountant (ACCA/CA Qualified) – Construction Sector

About the role

We are seeking a qualified accountant with ACCA or CA credentials to manage day‑to‑day accounting and financial reporting for a construction‑focused business. The role combines full‑cycle accounting with project‑specific tasks such as revenue recognition, work‑in‑progress tracking, and retention accounting.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the general ledger, record journal entries, perform reconciliations and lead month‑end close.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in line with IFRS/IAS standards.
• Handle project and contract accounting, including IFRS 15 revenue recognition, work‑in‑progress, cost allocation and retention balances.
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable, manage vendor and subcontractor payments and monitor cash flow.
• Ensure compliance with corporate tax, sales tax and withholding obligations and coordinate related filings.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and project cost reporting for management.
• Liaise with external auditors, prepare audit documentation and respond to queries.
• Strengthen internal controls, documentation and accounting policies.

Required profile

• ACCA (member/affiliate) or CA qualification (qualified or finalist) – mandatory.
• 2–5 years of post‑qualification experience, preferably in audit/consulting (Big 4 or reputable mid‑tier firm).
• Prior exposure to construction or real‑estate development accounting is strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS/IAS, especially IFRS 15, IAS 16 and IAS 36.
• Excellent analytical ability, attention to detail and capacity to work independently.
• Fluent written and spoken English.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, XERO, SAP, Oracle or other ERP systems.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Practical application of IFRS/IAS standards (IFRS 15, IAS 16, IAS 36).
