Accountant – Project Accounting & Financial Reporting

About the role

Hayat Ali & Co. is looking for a detail‑oriented Accountant to join its finance team. You will support project accounting, compliance and financial reporting across multiple contracts.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate general‑ledger entries and ensure timely month‑end close for corporate and project accounts.
• Prepare and analyse monthly financial statements, variance reports and project cost reports for management.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable workflows, including invoice verification, payment scheduling and collection follow‑ups.
• Reconcile bank statements, project advances, retention accounts and inter‑company balances.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and cost tracking for ongoing projects.
• Prepare VAT/GST and withholding‑tax filings and coordinate with external auditors.
• Maintain fixed‑asset schedules, depreciation calculations and capital‑expenditure accounting.

Required profile

• Professional proficiency in accounting principles (IFRS or local GAAP) and project cost accounting.
• Experience with tax compliance, VAT/GST and withholding‑tax calculations in Pakistan.
• Preferred background in construction or infrastructure project accounting.
• CA/ACCA part‑qualified or equivalent qualification is a plus.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with accounting software/ERP such as QuickBooks, Tally or SAP Business One.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills – VLOOKUP, pivot tables, formulas and data reconciliation.
• Ability to prepare and interpret financial statements, management reports and job‑cost analyses.
• Knowledge of fixed‑asset management, depreciation schedules and capital‑expenditure accounting.
