AI & Backend Engineer (Hybrid, Islamabad)

About the role

The AI & Backend Engineer will design, develop, and deploy advanced AI systems—including large language models, retrieval‑augmented generation, and agentic workflows—for global clients. Working in a hybrid setting, you will collaborate with software engineers, product teams, and leadership to deliver production‑ready, scalable AI solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy AI systems (LLMs, RAG, agentic workflows) while balancing accuracy, latency, cost and complexity.
• Train and fine‑tune models using PyTorch or Keras, prepare data, and evaluate performance.
• Develop APIs, inference pipelines, and backend integrations; monitor, debug and optimise models in production.
• Collaborate with engineering and product teams, contribute to technical decisions and document architecture.
• Read and implement state‑of‑the‑art research, reproducing results and adapting methods for production.

Required profile

• 3+ years of hands‑on AI/ML engineering experience with at least one production system.
• Strong NLP fundamentals (tokenisation, embeddings, classification, NER, information extraction).
• Proficiency in model training (PyTorch or Keras) and understanding of generative architectures (Transformers, VAEs).
• Experience deploying LLMs, RAG pipelines, embeddings/vector databases and prompt engineering.
• Familiarity with FastAPI, Docker and a major cloud provider (AWS, GCP or Azure).
