Assistant Manager Transmission Operations

About the role

The Assistant Manager Transmission Operations ensures continuous availability, reliability, and optimal performance of core transmission and microwave networks. The role involves leading network deployment, managing vendor performance, maintaining documentation, and coordinating fault resolution across 24/7 operations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain 24/7 availability and performance of the Core Transmission Network (OTN, SDH, DWDM, PTN).
• Identify and resolve remote and on‑site network or equipment failures and degraded link performance.
• Oversee corrective and preventive maintenance activities for long‑haul and metro optical fiber networks.
• Manage performance, monitoring, and optimization of the microwave transmission network.
• Maintain comprehensive network documentation for rapid fault localization.
• Supervise regional teams, provide technical guidance, and ensure 24/7 operational support.
• Perform fiber loss calculations, generate analytical reports, and coordinate loss rectification with vendors.
• Manage fiber break restoration to meet SLA commitments.
• Control spare‑part inventories, calibrate tools and test equipment, and maintain asset records.
• Assign and manage tasks for Managed Services and fiber vendors for both corrective and preventive maintenance.
• Lead end‑to‑end projects for Optical Fiber Cable deployment (Long Haul, Metro, FTTS, FTTH) and integrate active/passive network elements.
• Coordinate provisional and final acceptance testing (PAT/PAC) and ensure compliance with QoS and testing standards.
• Liaise with subcontractors and vendors, evaluate performance, and ensure service quality.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders on legal, security, and operational issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Telecommunications or a related field.

Required skills

• Knowledge of OTN, SDH, DWDM, PTN technologies.
• Experience with microwave transmission networks.
• Fiber loss calculation and analytical reporting.
• Network documentation and fault management.
• Corrective and preventive maintenance processes for optical fiber networks.
