Bookkeeper – Insurance Agency (Remote)

About the role

We are seeking a detail‑oriented Bookkeeper to manage the day‑to‑day financial operations of our insurance agency. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, accurate, and comfortable handling multiple accounting responsibilities while ensuring compliance with deadlines and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records using QuickBooks.
• Input insurance policy transactions for agency‑billed accounts.
• Reconcile carrier statements and prepare payments according to policy invoices and schedules.
• Allocate premiums, commissions, taxes, and other policy‑related transactions.
• Process refunds for cancelled policies.
• Reconcile trust, operating, credit‑card, and loan accounts.
• Handle accounts payable and general office expenses.
• Prepare payroll and submit information through Paychex.
• Monitor and manage annual licensing renewals across multiple states.
• Assist with month‑end reconciliations and maintain accurate documentation.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience with QuickBooks.
• 3+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience.
• Proven ability to reconcile bank accounts and financial statements.
• Experience processing accounts payable and payroll.
• Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and accounting procedures.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines independently.
• High level of integrity and confidentiality.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
