Customer Onboarding Officer

About the role

The Customer Onboarding Officer ensures a smooth, compliant, and efficient onboarding experience for HugoBank customers. You will review digital applications, perform KYC and AML/CFT checks, and manage onboarding exceptions while adhering to regulatory and internal standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct Level‑1 review of digital onboarding applications, verifying completeness, accuracy and compliance with KYC, AML/CFT and internal policies.
• Review customer responses, reassess applications after closing identified observations, and process account management requests received via the Contact Centre.
• Perform customer name and sanctions screening in line with compliance policies and regulatory requirements.
• Identify and escalate PEPs, high‑risk customers and other exceptional cases to Compliance for enhanced due diligence.
• Maintain accurate records of onboarding decisions, screening outcomes, exceptions and escalations for audit and regulatory review.
• Ensure onboarding activities are completed within defined turnaround times while maintaining quality and compliance standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• 2‑5 years of experience in customer onboarding, KYC operations, AML/CFT compliance support or similar roles within the banking sector.
• Strong understanding of KYC, AML/CFT regulations, customer due diligence and digital onboarding processes.
• Experience with digital banking platforms, onboarding workflows or customer management systems is a plus.
• Excellent attention to detail, analytical ability and effective written and verbal communication skills.
