Cybersecurity Instructor – Hands‑On SOC & Blue‑Team Training

About the role

Edversity is seeking a hands‑on cybersecurity practitioner to teach a 12‑week Cybersecurity Analyst program. The instructor will guide learners through real‑world defensive security tasks, helping them build a portfolio that demonstrates entry‑level SOC and blue‑team capabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver live, hands‑on cybersecurity sessions across a 12‑week cohort.
• Lead three 2‑hour sessions per week, covering blue‑team and SOC concepts.
• Design and run labs on SIEM, log analysis, incident response, threat detection, web security, cloud security, and security monitoring.
• Review weekly lab submissions, quizzes, reports, and practical assignments, providing clear, constructive feedback.
• Guide learners in creating portfolio‑ready work such as GitHub write‑ups, TryHackMe/HackTheBox profiles, and capstone projects.
• Support students with mock interviews, job‑readiness coaching, and career guidance.
• Keep curriculum up‑to‑date with evolving tools, threats, and industry expectations.
• Set realistic expectations about entry‑level security roles.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience in a defensive or operational cybersecurity role.
• Background as a SOC Analyst, Security Engineer, Incident Responder, Blue‑Team Analyst, or a similar position.
• Demonstrated ability to teach practical, project‑based cybersecurity concepts.
• Strong practical experience with real security tools and environments.

Required skills

• SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk, Elastic)
• Network analysis tools: Wireshark, Nmap
• Security testing tools: Burp Suite, Metasploit, Snort, Suricata, Sysmon
• Scripting languages: Bash, Python
• Operating system security: Linux, Windows
• MITRE ATT&CK framework and attacker mindset
• Web application security (OWASP Top 10)
• Cloud security fundamentals, especially AWS IAM
• Basic digital forensics, malware triage, incident response
• Introductory AI security, automation, SOAR, and GRC concepts
