Cybersecurity Instructor (SOC/BlueTeam)

About the role

Edversity is seeking a hands‑on cybersecurity practitioner to teach a 12‑week Cybersecurity Analyst Program. The instructor will guide learners through real‑world defensive security tasks, helping them build a portfolio that showcases SOC and blue‑team capabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver live, hands‑on cybersecurity sessions three times per week (2 hours each) for a 12‑week cohort.
• Design and run labs covering SIEM, log analysis, incident response, threat detection, web security, cloud security, and security monitoring.
• Review weekly lab submissions, quizzes, reports, and practical assignments, providing clear, constructive feedback.
• Mentor learners in creating portfolio‑ready work such as GitHub write‑ups, TryHackMe/HackTheBox profiles, and capstone projects.
• Support students with mock interviews, job‑readiness coaching, and career guidance.
• Keep curriculum up‑to‑date with evolving tools, threats, and industry expectations.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience in a defensive or operational cybersecurity role.
• Background as a SOC Analyst, Security Engineer, Incident Responder, Blue‑Team Analyst, or similar.
• Proven ability to teach practical, hands‑on topics to adult learners.
• Strong communication skills and a passion for mentoring future security professionals.

Required skills

• Networking fundamentals, Linux security, Windows security.
• Bash and Python scripting for security tasks.
• MITRE ATT&CK framework, reconnaissance, scanning, and log‑based attack analysis.
• Web application security (OWASP Top 10), Burp Suite, vulnerability reporting.
• SIEM platforms (Splunk, Elastic), log analysis, detection rule writing, threat intelligence.
• Network analysis tools: Wireshark, Nmap, Snort, Suricata, Sysmon.
• Penetration testing tools: Metasploit.
• Incident response, basic digital forensics, malware triage.
• Cloud security fundamentals, especially AWS IAM.
• Introductory AI security, automation, SOAR, and GRC concepts.
