Data Engineer Team Lead – AI & Localization

About the role

Apertera is seeking a Data Engineer Team Lead to own the design and delivery of its enterprise data warehouse supporting multilingual language assets. You will bridge data architecture, translation domain expertise, and emerging Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) technologies while leading a cross‑functional team.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the roadmap for a high‑availability data warehouse on AWS, handling massive multilingual datasets.
• Implement data cataloging, governance, and lineage solutions to ensure discoverability across the organization.
• Lead the creation of user‑centric interfaces for stakeholders to query and extract data.
• Manage translation memory, terminology, and CAT tool integrations, respecting XLIFF and TMX standards.
• Oversee vector database and semantic search index development for RAG‑enabled translation workflows.
• Mentor a cross‑functional team of linguists, developers, DevOps, and localization engineers.

Required profile

• 5+ years of data engineering experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership or senior role.
• Strong background in building data pipelines and warehouses on AWS (S3, Athena, Redshift, Glue).
• Solid understanding of GenAI lifecycle, especially vector indexing for RAG.
