Deputy Director (Pesticide Studies)

About the role

Pakistan Single Window (PSW) is recruiting on behalf of the National Agri-Trade and Food Safety Authority (NAFSA), which is being set up to strengthen Pakistan's agri-trade ecosystem through stronger regulatory oversight, facilitation and modernisation of food safety and trade processes. The Deputy Director (Pesticide Studies) will join NAFSA's foundational team and help build its systems, processes and institutional capabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the planning and oversight of pesticide studies and trials (bio-efficacy, residues, environmental fate, non-target impacts) needed for regulatory evaluation.
• Coordinate with research institutions, consultants and trial sites so that studies follow approved protocols and quality requirements.
• Review study outputs and technical summaries to support evidence-based registration decisions and post-market surveillance.
• Ensure consistency and traceability of study documentation, raw data and reporting for regulatory defensibility.
• Support post-registration monitoring and regulatory reviews based on study evidence and emerging risks.
• Provide technical briefs and recommendations to the Director and relevant committees.
• Carry out other duties assigned by the reporting officer in support of NAFSA's mandate.

Required profile

• M.Sc. (Hons.) / MPhil (minimum eighteen years of education) in Agriculture (Entomology, Plant Protection, Plant Pathology, Weed Science) or Chemistry, Environmental Sciences or a related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in pesticide studies, regulatory evaluation of pesticide data, residue testing, formulation quality assessment or related fields.
• Strong understanding of study design and protocol compliance and of how regulators use study evidence.
• Research publications in HEC-recognised journals preferred.
