Electrical Design Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to create and coordinate electrical systems for commercial, residential and interior fit‑out projects serving New York City clients. The role involves producing detailed designs, performing calculations, and ensuring compliance with local and national codes while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design electrical systems for commercial, residential and interior fit‑out projects.
• Prepare electrical plans, single‑line diagrams, load calculations, panel schedules and specifications.
• Develop layouts for lighting, power, emergency power, fire alarm and low‑voltage systems.
• Perform electrical load calculations, voltage‑drop analysis and equipment sizing.
• Coordinate with mechanical, plumbing, architectural and structural teams.
• Ensure designs comply with NYC Building Code, NYC Electrical Code, NEC and other applicable standards.
• Review shop drawings, RFIs and construction documents.
• Support project managers and senior engineers throughout the design process.
• Participate in quality‑control reviews and maintain project documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum three years of experience in electrical design for buildings and interior fit‑outs.
• Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
• Familiarity with New York City Building and Electrical Codes (preferred).
• Experience with commercial, residential, hospitality or office fit‑out projects.
