About the role
We are seeking an experienced Energy Regulatory Attorney to join a leading global energy company on a remote contract basis. The attorney will provide expert legal counsel on federal and state energy regulations, support high‑stakes regulatory proceedings, and help shape policy initiatives.
Key responsibilities
- Advise on compliance with FERC, state public utility commissions, and environmental regulations.
- Draft, file, and manage regulatory documents, petitions, and motions in energy‑related proceedings.
- Analyze proposed tariffs, rate cases, and regulatory proposals to identify legal risks and recommend strategic responses.
- Represent the client in meetings with regulators, industry groups, and stakeholders to advocate for favorable outcomes.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments affecting the energy sector and provide timely updates to senior leadership.
Required profile
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Active bar membership in any U.S. jurisdiction, preferably with energy regulatory experience.
- Proven experience in energy law, including familiarity with FERC regulations and state utility law.
- Strong analytical and writing abilities to interpret complex regulatory frameworks.
Required skills
- Expertise in federal and state energy regulations.
- Experience preparing and filing regulatory documents.
- Ability to conduct legal risk analysis for tariffs and rate cases.
