Energy Regulatory Attorney – Remote Contract

About the role

We are seeking an Energy Regulatory Attorney to provide expert legal counsel on federal and state energy regulations for a leading global energy organization. This remote, contract position involves guiding compliance, preparing regulatory filings, and supporting high‑stakes proceedings.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on compliance with FERC, state public utility commissions, and environmental standards.
• Draft and file petitions, motions, and other regulatory documents in energy‑related proceedings.
• Analyze proposed tariffs, rate cases, and regulatory proposals to identify legal risks and recommend strategic responses.
• Represent the client in meetings with regulators, industry groups, and stakeholders to influence outcomes.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments affecting the energy sector and brief senior leadership.

Required profile

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Active bar membership in any U.S. jurisdiction, with a focus on energy regulatory practice.
• Proven experience handling energy law matters, including FERC and state utility regulations.
• Strong analytical and writing abilities to interpret complex regulatory frameworks.
