Energy Regulatory Attorney (Remote)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Energy Regulatory Attorney to provide specialized legal counsel on federal and state energy regulations. This remote contract position supports a leading entity in the energy sector, handling high‑stakes regulatory proceedings and policy development.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on compliance with federal and state energy regulations, including FERC and state public utility commissions.
• Draft and file regulatory documents, petitions, and motions in energy‑related proceedings.
• Analyze proposed regulations, tariffs, and rate cases to assess legal risks and develop strategic responses.
• Represent the client in meetings with regulators, stakeholders, and industry groups.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments affecting the energy sector and provide timely updates to leadership.

Required profile

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Active membership in the bar of any U.S. jurisdiction.
• Demonstrated experience in energy law, particularly with FERC regulations and state utility law.
• Strong analytical and writing abilities to interpret complex regulatory frameworks.
• Experience handling regulatory filings, proceedings, or policy advocacy in the energy sector.
