Game Design Intern – Research & Analysis

About the role

Game District is seeking a curious and analytical intern to join its Game Design team for a three‑month, on‑site placement in Gulberg 3, Lahore. You will dive deep into mobile free‑to‑play titles, deconstruct their mechanics, and provide insights that directly influence design decisions for games reaching millions of players.

Key responsibilities

• Track trends, new releases and soft launches across mobile F2P genres, focusing on simulation, idle and casual titles.
• Build and maintain a living library of reference games, documenting features, LiveOps cadence, monetisation models and progression structures.
• Play assigned reference titles extensively, recording first‑time user experience, onboarding funnels, progression pacing and monetisation touchpoints.
• Produce structured written breakdowns and teardowns of competitor games, including screenshots, data and clear takeaways.
• Analyse player reviews and community feedback to surface recurring themes and pain points.
• Map and document core and meta loops of reference games using diagrams and written analysis.
• Deconstruct progression systems, economy sources and sinks, reward schedules and pricing.
• Maintain spreadsheets tracking economy values, level curves and IAP pricing across reference titles.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s programme or a graduate within the last year, any discipline.
• A strong, demonstrable passion for playing and studying video games.
• An analytical mindset with comfort working with numbers and spreadsheets.
• A positive attitude and eagerness to learn, grow and respond to constructive feedback.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Google Sheets.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, charts, basic modelling).
