General Manager, Commercial

About the role

The Catalyst Group is recruiting a General Manager – Commercial for a leading modern retail and grocery business in Pakistan. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will own the end‑to‑end commercial function, shaping buying, category management, pricing, supplier partnerships and commercial planning to drive sustainable top‑line growth and margin expansion.

Key responsibilities

• Translate business targets into annual commercial and category plans and build growth roadmaps.
• Lead buying and category management across core grocery and fresh categories, own assortment architecture and drive data‑led performance reviews.
• Set buying and selling price decisions, manage front‑ and back‑margin, and ensure disciplined pricing governance.
• Develop strategic supplier relationships, negotiate annual commercial agreements and improve rebates and promotional funding.
• Own the commercial calendar, promotional planning and trading rhythm, using customer insights to enhance promotion effectiveness.
• Collaborate with Operations, Supply Chain and Finance to improve execution and customer experience.

Required profile

• 10‑15+ years of commercial leadership experience in grocery retail, FMCG or modern trade.
• Proven track record of delivering sales growth, customer satisfaction and margin improvement.
• Strong commercial acumen with a customer‑first mindset and hands‑on analytical capability.
• Effective leadership, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
