General Manager – Primary Schooling

About the role

The General Manager – Primary Schooling is a senior executive responsible for designing, implementing and assuring the quality of early and primary education programmes across the organisation’s national footprint. The role leads the Foundational Years strategy, oversees curriculum and assessment design, and acts as the subject‑matter authority on foundational education outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a country‑wide foundational years curriculum framework and operational playbook for replication and scale, aligning with research and evidence.
• Establish organisation‑wide KPIs, oversee assessment tools, analyse data trends and drive continuous improvement to meet national standards.
• Lead curriculum and instructional design teams, provide dotted‑line leadership to regional implementation managers, and build succession and capability across the function.
• Represent the organisation with government bodies, advocate for supportive policy, and build partnerships with NGOs, research institutions and donors.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Education, Public Policy, Non‑profit Management or a related field.
• 8–10+ years of experience in the education sector with a focus on foundational/primary education, including 4+ years in a senior management role overseeing multi‑site programmes.
• Proven expertise in curriculum development, assessment design and large‑scale monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL).

Required skills

• Proficiency with EdTech tools and dashboards for data visualization and decision‑making.
• Strong ability to use data to inform curriculum and assessment cycles.
