Hospital Pharmacist – DR‑TB Program

About the role
The Hospital Pharmacist will support the drug‑resistant tuberculosis (DR‑TB) program by assisting the Project Manager in planning, organizing, implementing, monitoring and reporting project activities. The role involves maintaining accurate drug inventories, providing administrative support, and coordinating with government authorities, civil society partners and hospital staff.
Key responsibilities
- Assist supervisors and facilitate DR‑TB staff in planning, organizing, implementing and reporting program activities.
- Maintain close working relationships with hospital authorities, provincial TB programme and other stakeholders.
- Provide quality support for patient registration, second‑line anti‑TB drug provision, laboratory and social support, and health education.
- Maintain patient data and records in both hard‑copy and electronic form; compile monthly and quarterly reports.
- Coordinate internal and external referral linkages for DR‑TB patients with DOTS‑plus clinics.
- Evaluate DR‑TB suspects, arrange treatment for diagnosed cases, and negotiate decentralized treatment delivery.
- Supervise Treatment Support Coordinators, conduct home visits, contact tracing and social profiling.
- Select and train treatment supporters, distribute social support, and keep distribution records.
- Arrange retrieval of unused drugs/materials when patients discontinue treatment.
- Participate in on‑the‑job and formal trainings, intra‑hospital monitoring events, and submit activity reports on time.
Required profile
- Pharmacy degree with registration as a pharmacist.
- Experience working in a hospital pharmacy setting, preferably with TB programmes.
- Knowledge of second‑line anti‑TB drugs and treatment protocols.
- Ability to maintain accurate inventory and patient records.
- Strong coordination skills to work with multidisciplinary teams including doctors, nurses and social workers.
