Import Officer – Manage End-to-End Import Operations

About the role

Better Deals is seeking an Import Officer to oversee the full import cycle for its ferrous and non‑ferrous metal, energy, and mineral businesses. This on‑site position in Pakistan will ensure timely, compliant, and cost‑effective delivery of all consignments.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate end‑to‑end import activities with suppliers, freight forwarders, and internal teams.
• Prepare, review, and validate import documentation such as L/Cs, invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading.
• Track shipments, monitor status, and resolve delays or discrepancies.
• Liaise with customs authorities, banks, and logistics partners to secure clearances and payments.
• Maintain accurate records and support inspection teams with required information.
• Collaborate with commercial and finance departments to optimise costs, uphold quality standards, and improve operational efficiency.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of import procedures, customs regulations, and related documentation.
• Experience working with banks, customs agents, shipping lines, and logistics providers.
• Proficiency in MS Office and ERP or trade‑management systems for data entry, tracking, and reporting.
• Analytical and problem‑solving abilities to address shipment issues and cost optimisation.
• Effective communication and negotiation skills for internal and external stakeholder interaction.
• Ability to manage multiple shipments in a fast‑paced environment and meet strict deadlines.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, International Trade or a related field; import/export certifications are a plus.
• Prior experience in metals, energy, or minerals trading is preferred.
